CLASI Certificate in Ayres Sensory Integration®
We appreciate the opportunity to improve the quality of services we provide here at OTFC Group
The OTFC Group Waymouth Street is the flagship of all OTFC Group Sites and has existed at the current site for 15 years. It has 6 purpose-built therapy rooms each designed to meet the fidelity measure standards for Ayres Sensory Integration therapy©.
Sessions are planned by each treating therapist in collaboration with the assessing therapist and are based on the results of the assessment process. OTFC is specifically tailored for infants up until 9 years of age.
The dynamic nature of therapy and the availability of specialised equipment is essential to achieving optimal outcomes in your child’s therapy. Parent participation in sessions (as determined by the treating therapist), follow up activities for reinforcement at home and collaboration with educators at childcare, kindy or school is essential in ensuring change and progress.
OTFC Group provides occupational therapy helping children to learn, develop and flourish achieving their goals and dreams and making a difference every day in families lives.
Our third site OTFC Parkside is in the throes of being built and will open to the public in July 2021.
This project is a collaboration of all the OTFC Group learnings and will provide a space specifically for children between the ages 9-12 years of age. It is a ‘hybrid’ between our Waymouth street clinic and Mile End clinic. We cannot wait to share more information about this space with you as it develops.
Our OTFC Group Mile End South site is our OTFC+ site. A purpose-built building and service specifically developed to support young adolescents and adults with sensory, physical, behavioural, social and emotional challenges. There is nothing else like it in the world.
The OTFC+ design has been developed to allow for flexibility and adaptability, working one to one or with others in different spaces with different foci. OTFC+ is an extension of our OTFC Group services that have been offered to children and families for over 30 years in South Australia.
Whilst we continue to value and support Ayres SI© as the basis for all therapies, we are occupational therapists and adapting to the needs of our clients and their families is important to our overall practice.
OTFC+ means beyond age or physical limitations and offers services to young people into their teen and early adult years. Unlike our individual rooms at OTFC (Waymouth Street), OTFC+ in Mile End is mostly open plan. This is a strategic approach to allow engagement and collaboration, where necessary, among our young clients and teens, with the aim of forging friendships among peers along the way.
The demand for therapeutic services for young adolescents and adults has not been met in the health division to the degree that is has for children, particularly in the private division. There is even a greater discrepancy between services offered to address physical, sensory and behavioural issues within this demographic. Yet, the understanding of the importance that physical health contributes to emotional and social well-being is abundantly researched and documented, particularly in the mental health sector.
OTFC+ enables the integration from clinic service to community-based services. The therapy looks different at OTFC+ because we have different activities and forums to engage our older clients.
