Taking the first step into occupational therapy can feel overwhelming, but you do not have to navigate it alone. OTFC is here to help your child build confidence, independence, and essential life skills.
We support young people, from birth through to 18 years and beyond!
When to Consider Occupational Therapy
You might be reaching out because your young person:
- Has a new diagnosis (such as Autism, ADHD, or developmental delay) and needs a clear path forward.
- Has a referral from a GP, pediatrician, or allied health practitioner.
- Struggles with everyday tasks like handwriting, using cutlery, dressing, or self-care.
- Faces sensory or emotional barriers that make managing school or home environments difficult.
- Is limited in what they love to do, whether that is playing, making friends, or keeping up at school.
- Has so much to offer, but everyday tasks don't seem to come as naturally to them as they do to others.
How OTFC can Help
In childhood, "occupations" are the everyday activities that allow kids to learn, play, and grow.
Our team works with families to deliver tailored, play-based therapy that builds motor skills, sensory regulation, and independence—giving you practical strategies to use at home and school.
Ready to get started?
Meet & Greet or Discovery Phone Consultation
Not sure if Occupational Therapy is right for you?
Our Discovery phone consultations and free Meet & Greet sessions are designed to help you determine if Occupational Therapy is the right fit for your young person.
During a Meet & Greet session, you will have the opportunity to meet with an experienced therapist to discuss areas of need for your child, tour our facilities, and get clear, honest answers. From there, we can guide you toward the support that makes the most sense for your young person. We offer these sessions in person or virtually. Choose an on-site tour to experience the space firsthand, or join from the comfort and privacy of home.
A Discovery Call is an opportunity for a confidential discussion with our our Client Services Manager to better understand OTFC's services and how we can support you.
The Assessment Process
Ready to start therapy, or already have a referral?
An assessment is your first step.
What our assessment process looks like:
- Assessment Intake Call conducted over the phone or virtually
- In-person Assessment using standardised assessment tools and clinical observations
- Assessment Report completed in a dedicated non-face-to-face session
At Occupational Therapy for Children, play underpins everything we do.
Scientists have determined that it takes approximately 400 repetitions to create a new synapse in the brain, unless it is done with play, in which case it takes between 10 and 20 repetitions.
The magic happens when our therapists make this play purposeful and effective.
